10 Most Underrated Hindi Bollywood Movies of 2014

2014 was a mega year for Bollywood as many films went on to break the records of the box office. However, the khans continued to dominate the box office as Happy New Year,Kick followed by pk earned more than 200 crores. There were strings of films too, who garnered accolades for the concept and acting capabilities, but failed to mark an impact on box office. Lets have a look at the numbers of the film, which got the thumbs up from the critics but did not earn much money for the makers.



The  Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha starer Hindi drama was a remake of the British film Metro Manila,which was nominated at the BAFTA. The film revolved around the male protagonist who came  to the city to earn money, however, he is trapped in the vicious circle. The film received rave reviews from the critics. Though it earned the cost of production but could not fetch a good collection at the box office.



The year 2014 marked the release of many  female oriented films, Mardaani was one of them. It touched the nerves of the critics and the audience by showcasing the  sensitive issue,” Human trafficking”. After the uncertain hiatus Rani Mukherji made her come back as a serious lady dabang. Despite getting positive feedbacks from the critics, he film could not earn the due collection at the box office.



The film was screened at the 17th Busan International Film Festival, the Mumbai Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of Kerala, where it won the Silver Crow Pheasant Awardfor best debut film.It also won the Best Feature Film in Hindi in the 60th National Film Awards 2012.The film was also screened internationally at the 24th Palm Springs International Film Festival, 23rd Tromsø International Film Festival, 36th Göteborg International Film Festival, and 5th Jaipur International Film Festival.However, the film was stated flop at the box office.

Dedh Ishqiya


The film was a sequel of Ishqiya released in 2010. With the second instalment the Nene marked her comeback.The movie was an Indian black comedy thriller directed by Abhishek Chaubey starring legendry  actress of 90’s Madhuri Dixit who marked her comeback with the flick, Arshad Warsi,Naseeruddin Shah, and Huma Qureshi in the lead roles. The flick was tagged as a one of the years most critically acclaimed movies and was declared hit at the box office. However, the film could not garner a huge collection at the box office.
