Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom a.ka Magnificent Mary is undoubtedly country’s pride, but her biopic film with the same name Mary Kom has garnered mixed reactions. Though Priyanka has left no stones unturned to blend herself in Marry’s character. The actress has adapted the accent and the dialect of the lady boxer. There was a no scene where Priyanka could not match with Kom. With this flick one thing is sure that the actor can portray any role with ease. Chopra is definitely a star of the film.
Beside PC, debutant actor Darshan Kumar, who has enacted MC’S husband, K Onler Kom in the film, is soothing to watch,The south actor charmingly pulls off his character. As far as his relationship with Mary in the film is concerned, he tried his best to convince the audience that he is not only her(MC) husband but a strong supporter also who has always been there with the boxer in her thick and thin… If you are thinking for hatke Jodi… then forget it because both of them are not looking convincing with each other. Being a sport oriented film one cannot expect love story, but still Kumar and his writer Saiwyn Quadras have unfolded some love scenes which just add a minus mark to their chemistry
The film has every element which is needed by a film for its success, but fails in balancing the whole story. Some scenes were jarring and many a times it turned into a fictional story.Even Sunil Thapa as Chopra’s coach M Narjit Singh, who, after Onler is the most influential man in Mary Kom’s life, fails to make an impression.the actor dint justify with his character.
By now everyone know who actually is Mary Kom?The thing which they dint knew were the hard circumstances which turned Mary into Magnificent Mary Kom,and the film has not added any great piece of information. Its just a story of a girl who is Jiddi(reluctant) who wanted to become a boxer.
The screen play could have been better, as audience could not connect with Marry’splight in many scenes but still Priyanka has out shined the character. The boxing scenes were too loud, climax is particularly lengthy and overtly mawkish, repeatedly cutting from the hospital room to the ring to annoying effect. The first have is quit dull but second half is enriching as it unfolds the Mary’s path of success and how she balance between her personal life and professional life after becoming mother of two twins.
Art director Omung Kumar, who has worn the hat of director for this film, could not weave the story around Mary Kom’s real life .If you want to know about Mary Kom in depth then you should go for the lady boxer’s biopic book” Unbreakable”. If you are Priyanka’s fan then you should watch the film but leave your brain at home.
