What is Blood Cancer?
Blood cancer affect the function and production of blood cells, basically blood cancer starts from bone marrow, where blood is produced; stem cells in bone marrow divided and matured into three types of blood cells, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
In blood cancers, the normal blood cell development process is interrupted by uncontrolled growth of abnormal type of blood cells, these abnormal blood cells prevent blood to perform many function as fighting off infection or preventing serious bleeding.
There are three main types of blood cancer:
Leukemia– This type of cancer found in your bone marrow and blood, is caused by rapid production of white blood cells and these white blood cells are not sufficient enough to fight against infection, rather it impair the ability of bone marrow to produce to produce red blood cells and platelets.
Lymphoma– This type of cancer affects in your lymphatic system and removes excess fluid from your body and produce immune cells, usually lymphocyte cell is type of white blood cells which fight against infection. Abnormal lymphocyte becomes lymphoma cells, which multiply and collected in lymph nodes and other tissues, over time of cancerous cells impair your immune system.
Myeloma– Myeloma is cancer of plasma cells and plasma cells are type of white blood cells that produce disease and infection fighting antibodies in your body, myeloma cells prevent the production of antibodies leaving the immune system of your body weakened and susceptible to infection.
Well, it is very difficult to tell reason of blood cancer but here is following reason for this disease.
- Previous chemotherapy or radiation therapy
- Genetic disorder as down syndrome and Fanconi Anemia
- Genetic abnormality, such as abnormality on chromosome 22
- Family history
- exposure to high doses of radiation
Symptoms of Blood Cancer:
Well symptoms of blood cancer depend on its stage and type, so here is some symptoms of Blood Cancer.

Treatment of Blood Cancer:
well treatment of blood cancer depend on age, type of cancer and how fast the cancer is progressing, so here is description of treatment of Blood Cancer.
Stem Cell Transplantation– In this process healthy blood cells infuses into the body, stem cells can be collected form bone marrow, circulating blood and umbilical cord blood, and this is ultimate option to save life of patient.
Chemotherapy– since cancer cells grows rapidly then in this therapy drugs are used to kill these abnormal growing cells, this is one of the effective treatments of this disease, it may be given before stem cell treatment.
Radiation Therapy– Radiation therapy may be used to destroy cancer cells or to relieve pain or discomfort, it may be given before a stem cell treatment.
