Idli’s and dosa’s  are often typecast as the main and only South Indian foods,thanks to are tv serials and Bollywood films for this.But do you know like northern food, South Indian food too has a variety of dishes.There are many dishes from Kerala,Tamil Nadu, Andhra Prades ,Chennai, which are still to be explored by us.Lets have a look at few mouth watering  South Indian platters, which can relish our taste buds.

Kerala style Fish Molee/Moly

The dish sounds like  a normal fish curry, but it’s quite different.The  coconut milk  is a  main ingredient of the dish. It is indeed a fish curry in coconut milk.It is one of the popular dishes  of Kerala. It tastes  perfect with roti,Appam and bread. Its different from other dishes of Kerala  as tamarind is excluded from the ingredients of this dish.

Idiyappam with Egg Curry

The name of Idiyappam is noolappam. The dish is made with the combination of  rice flour, salt and water.  Idiyappam  looks like a Dosa .It is a breakfast dish, which is quite heavy because of its fillings. Though Idiyappam and Egg Curry are eaten together, but Idiyappam can be eaten with others curries as well.

Kuzhi Paniyaram

It is a Tamil and dish common south Indian breakfast.It is prepared from the leftover idli and dosa.  Kuzhi paniyarams can be cooked  sweet or spicy. The spicy Kuzhi paniyarams is made of autéed onions and green chilies mixed with the batter. Since the dish has a long shelf life so it is generally regarded as a long trip snack.

Milagu Aval

It is also a breakfast dish. It is the combination of Poha and Upma.It  is light food which which is ideal for Blood pressure and diabetes patience.The common ingredient is rice flakes. The dish is easy to make and can be enjoyed as a an evening dish with tea.It is more of like namkeen which can be served to guests with tea and coffee.

Karimeen Pollichathu

it is  one of Kerala’s traditional delicacies. The variations of spices are mixed together with coconut paste and is wrapped in the banana leaf.It is made from pearl spot fish.The dish is for the taste buds and nose as well,as it has an amazing aroma.
